IN-SHP Newsletter Highlights Global Efforts to Promote Small Hydropower
June 2012: The International Network on Small Hydro Power (IN-SHP) has published the June 2012 issue of its newsletter, which highlights new hydropower and other renewable energy Programmes of Activities registered under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM).
The newsletter outlines: efforts being undertaken in Chinese provinces to promote the development of small hydropower; the planned registration of Bhutan's first hydropower construction company; the intended construction of two run-of-river hydroelectric plants in the Philippines; the signing of a tentative deal between Utilities RusHydro and Kazkhmys, under which Utilities RusHydro will construct up to 300 MW worth of small hydroelectric plants in Kazakhstan; and the planned sale by a turbine manufacturer from the Netherlands of 25 hydropower units to Nepal.
