ECN Announces Research Agreement on Wind Energy with NREL
23 April 2012: The Energy Research Centre of the Netherlands (ECN) announces that it has signed a Cooperative Research And Development Agreement (CRADA) in the field of wind energy with the US Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), providing opportunities for increased information exchange and resource sharing.
The CRADA will focus on specific areas in wind energy research, including: Advanced Controls of Integrated Turbine Systems (offshore and land-based); Turbine and Wind Farm Wake; and Array Effects. The partnership will strengthen the existing collaboration between the two research centers, which have been cooperating on wind energy research since the 1980s. By jointly developing and comparing models and experimental data, Fort Felker, Director of the National Wind Technology Center at NREL, hopes to "increase the scope and pace of our contributions to this important technology."
ECN is an Associate Member of the Global Network on Energy for Sustainable Development (GNESD), a UNEP facilitated knowledge network on energy, development, and environment issues. [ECN Press Release]
